About: My stackys are run off wet pots (clay balls that are connected to irrigation) and a small water tank. My advice is that plant tall growing things like celery and leeks on the bottom level and slow growing plants towards the back if you have one side slightly less accessible. Plant all your herbs close together so you know exactly where to look when you’re mid cooking!

About: This is my first hydroponics setup. I chose Mr. Stacky because it is a neat and elegant setup, without the need to DIY or much experience in Hydroponics. You can pretty much get the system going within 30min. The kit comes with everything I need to get started and instructions were easy to understand. One thing I would like to mention is probably include in your manual, that coco peat would overflow is filled too much in the planter. There are also holes in each planted to get water drain, but over time you would also lose some coco peat into the reservoir, which could potentially cause the pump to block. If possible, the planters should be made more affordable and readily available in Bunnings. That way, you could get more people to take up the hobby. Let’s be honest, not everyone has 300-400 to chuck at a planter, when similar soil based planters can be bought for less than $100 at local hardware shops.

About: Hope you guys are doing well, the system is going really well, a little trial and error but getting there. We are getting heaps of crop which is amazing! Definitely the best setup we have ever had!and I note too I set a trend, you have my setup online to purchase now . You probably getting a few more enquirers now as everyone in SEQ in the Facebook groups I’m on want to know where I got my pots from. I did also want to find out about getting some more pots and medium – and hubby wants to know how long the nutrients last for (ie expires) as he wants to stock up a whole extra year. We are actually making probably twice the size now that we know what we are doing (sunk 15 poles in instead of 9 so do need to get at least 15 more pots. Also, how do you go with keeping a continuos supply of food? Do you have extra towers you rotate through? I am finding I need to plant more tomatoes but can’t as the towers are still producing … any tips greatly appreciated

About: We get very little rain in this area so water preservation is key.   We also wanted to use solar instead of electricity.   So Mr Stacky helped us with the recirculation kit which goes under each tower.   The riser pipes are cut to 600mm high and the water is gravity fed back to the reservoir.   Everything works perfect little bit of tinkering involved but once I figured it out it wasn’t too hard.    Solar panels work well enough.   They supply enough power in winter to water the plants so definately will in summer when it’s hot.

We have a huge variety of summary and winter veges, the snow peas and broadbeans  yield is exceptional.

About: We used to grow our vegies in the dirt. The Stacky system has increased our yield five fold and greatly diminished the pests and weeds we are seeing. We have had success growing a wide variety of vegies. The system is efficient and so easy to set up and maintain compared to traditional raised beds. We have converted our old raised beds to only larger plants and this has increased our yield of cabbages, Broccoli, corn, potatoes etc as well.

We put 20 towers in our Greenhouse and 13 outside. In Stacky we have found lettuce, Bok Choy, Kale, Spinach etc to work particularly well. One of the best investments we have made.s

About: We’re retired and have spare land so thought why not give this a go?  We grow Parsely, coriander and mint for local shops.  From 1 seed, we can get up to 8 crops.   Parsely grows fast so when you cut it back, it’s ready for harvesting again in 2-3 weeks.   This lasts for a good 3-4 months than we re-plant.  To remove we cut inside the pot beside the pole and pull at the base of the plant stem.   The entire roots come out and we just add more coco/perlite then add seed straight into the tower.

The plants go ballistic.  No issues with growing.   We had mould issues growing Basil, so switched to Parsely, Mint, Coriander only.    Most of the work is in the harvesting/packaging and we have help from local friends and family.   We enjoy being outdoors.    We learned quickly not to use cheap weed matting.   Make sure you get matting with strong UV resistance.   Also, we later added planters at the base of each tower to increase yield and decrease run-off as the ground was getting soggy after rain.   Very happy with the system. thanks.

About: We’ve always had our own veggie patch and love gardening.   This is our first venture into hydroponic farming on a larger scale.  Our aim is to trial a Strawberry U-Pick farm for locals and tourists and scale up if successful as our climate is perfect for growing strawberries.  We also aim to on-sell Mr Stacky systems as a side business.   We planted over 4000 strawberry runners and so far everything is growing well.

As we get alot of wind on the island, we’ve used wind netting around the garden.   This also creates a physical barrier for wildlife and a gating structure for customers.   We’ve also constructed meshing above the towers to stop birds as well.  In addition to strawberries we’ve succesfully grown various crop types including snowpeas, beetroot, brocoli, radish, cabbage etc.   We’re targeting an open date prior to Christmas (depending on the COVID19 restrictions)…
